Natural smoke exhaust and ventilation control systems description

 

Depending on natural smoke exhaust systems complete set, type of elements and also functional and operational requirements to the system, all natural smoke exhaust and ventilation systems can be divided into 3 basic groups:

 

   1. Smoke exhaust and ventilation ELECTRIC control system.

   2. Smoke exhaust and ventilation PNEUMATIC control system.

   3. Combined = PNEUMATIC + ELECTRIC smoke exhaust and ventilation control systems.

The natural smoke exhaust and ventilation electric control system presupposes installation of electric actuators (24V DC) or pneumatic actuators with electric start-up (electromagnet 24V/0,4А DC start-up) on opening rooflights and/or the flaps which have been built in into the light belts and/or window transoms.

To control the actuators there the electric wiring (fire-resisting cable) has to be laid.

The essential advantage of the natural smoke exhaust control system is the possibility to use a rooflight for everyday ventilation/airing (only in case of electrical actuators 24V DC usage for rooflight opening). The electrical control equipment - the natural smoke exhaust and ventilation electric control panel (input 220 V AC / output 24V DC).

 

The natural smoke exhaust and ventilation pneumatic control system presupposes installation of pneumatic actuators and TRV - thermal release valve with CO2 cylinder on opening rooflights and/or the flaps which have been built in into the light belts.

To control the actuators there the copper pipe is laid.

Pneumatic control system is not intended for ventilation/airing, only for smoke exhaust and in emergency states.

The most beneficial advantage of the pneumatic control system as compared to other systems is its low budgetary cost - result of the special set of equipment and not very high cost of control networks consumables.

The pneumatic control system equipment - The pneumatic starter box (PSB) (centralized electrical start-up 24V/0,4A DC, manual local start-up).

 

The combined natural smoke exhaust and ventilation control system simultaneously uses both pneumatic smoke exhaust and electrical ventilation control systems. Pneumatics here works only for natural smoke exhaust and electrics is used only for everyday ventilation/airing.

The natural smoke exhaust and ventilation pneumatic control system presupposes installation of pneumatic actuators and TRV - thermal release valve with CO2 cylinder on opening rooflights and/or the flaps which have been built in into the light belts, for smoke exhaust only. To control the actuators there the copper pipe is laid.

The natural ventilation electrical control system presupposes installation of electric actuators (220V, 50 Hz AC) on opening rooflights and/or the flaps which have been built in into the light belts, for everyday ventilation/airing only. To control the actuators there the electric wiring (fire-resisting cable) has to be laid.

 

 

The basic advantage of the combined control system is variation possibility of an equipment complete set, and also simplicity and flexibility of production engineering and operational solutions on system in whole. It helps Investor to save money on additional options, having found the best variant between criteria “price” and “functionality”.

The electrical ventilation control equipment - the ventilation electric control panel, weather control.

 

Addition:

In case of the natural smoke exhaust and ventilation system application, we insistently recommend using supplementary equipment (weather automatics).

The supplementary equipment will protect rooflights (translucent and smoke-deflecting constructions) from damage, and also will ensure convenient and safe operation of a system in whole.

 

Weather automatics. The rain detectors/wind transmitter (weather sensor) enables rooflights to close in case of  rain and/or wind flaws above any preset value.
